TOM LEA, LIFE AND WORLD WAR II

A half-day symposium in conjunction with the exhibition, presented in partnership with National World War II Museum, New Orleans. Join us at the Department of Visual Arts in Fletcher Hall, Room 134, UL Lafayette, 421 East Lewis Street Lafayette. 9 am – Noon The Hilliard Art Museum partners with the National World War II Museum in this presentation of World War II history as depicted in the paintings of Tom Lea currently on view at the Hilliard. The program includes: “The War in Which He Worked” John Curatola, National WWII Museum, presents overview of Pacific War. “Entering Combat and Claire Chennault” Steph Hennershitz, National WWII Museum, interviews Nell Chennault. “Tom Lea the Artist and Man: The War and the West” Panel discussion among Mac Greeley and Adair Margo, moderated by Jamey Clement. “Personal Reflections of a Marine in the Pacific” Paul Hilliard. Free and open to the public, thanks to the sponsorship of Oats & Marino. -

Let's Make Art

Third Saturday of the Month 10:00 AM -12:00 PM. This program is Free with Admission. The Hilliard Art Museum is excited to offer monthly drop-in art making on the third Saturday of each month from 10 am-12 pm. Work with a local teaching artist to create an artwork inspired by the museum's current exhibitions. Art activities are designed for ages 4 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Participation is free with admission. -
