Your support plays a crucial role in helping us create outstanding programs and groundbreaking exhibitions and assists us in sustaining this invaluable community gathering place for all generations and cultures.

Museum staff can develop a customized benefits package for each individual, business, or corporation to guarantee prominent visibility among our large and diverse audience while meeting any specific marketing goals. Along with a significant tax deduction, sponsors may receive various benefits for executives and employees, such as:

  • Recognition in select print materials, on our website, and on our Museum donor board with distribution to UL Lafayette's 18,000+ students, museum members, and community leaders
  • Membership discounts and volunteer opportunities for employees

Bequests and Planned Giving

"We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give." –Winston Churchill

Many benefactors choose to support the Hilliard University Art Museum by including the Museum in their estate plans. The most common form of planned giving is a bequest made by a will or trust; however, there is a wide range of planned gift opportunities, including life income and deferred gifts, which can provide financial and tax benefits to donors during their lifetime and help to shape the work of the Art Museum in perpetuity.

To inquire about bequeathing a work or works of art, you may begin by contacting our Marketing Manager, Reagan Benit, at reagan.benit@louisiana.edu or 337.482.0825, or Associate Director of Administration, Cindy Comeaux, at cindy.comeaux@louisiana.edu or 337.482.0817. They will be pleased to take you through the process. You can also contact Reagan for other planned and estate-giving opportunities to benefit the Art Museum.

Naming Opportunities

The Louisiana Vision Campaign provides you with the opportunity to mark your legacy by naming a space in the Museum. Endowing a staff position, lecture series and/or youth programming are additional opportunities to have a lasting influence on the future of the Hilliard Art Museum and the arts in Acadiana. These opportunities have funding requirements to ensure that adequate income will be available forever to achieve the donor's intent, both now and in the future. Please discuss with us your intentions and we can create an opportunity for you.

Gifts of Art

The collections of the Hilliard, comprised of approximately 2,000 objects spanning all media and millennia from the ancient to the contemporary, have been assembled since its founding in 1968 largely through the generosity of its many donors, both alumni, and friends. Many donors choose to make a gift of art either during their lifetimes or by bequesting to enhance the Museum's collections and support its mission as a teaching and research institution so that future generations might experience the power and enjoyment of great works of art.

The Hilliard Art Museum welcomes gifts of art consistent with the focus of the collections and the Museum's commitment to excellence. To inquire about making a gift of art, you may begin by consulting the Marketing Manager or the Associate Director of Administration, who will be pleased to speak with you. Call Reagan Benit at 337.482.0825 or Cindy Comeaux at 337.482.0817.
