Bienvenu Lecture: 2018

The Power of Observation

The Hilliard Museum invites you to join us for the fourth annual Bienvenu lecture by Bonnie Pitman, Director Art/Brain Innovations, Center for BrainHealth, and Distinguished Scholar in Residence for the Edith O’Donnell Institute of Art History at The University of Texas at Dallas. This lecture will address how the close observation of art makes us better storytellers, communicators, professionals, writers and artists.

Bonnie Pitman joined The University of Texas at Dallas as Distinguished Scholar in Residence in 2012 to research and develop partnerships between UTD and cultural and health-related institutions. She serves in the Office of the Provost, and with The Edith O’Donnell Institute of Art History, The Center for BrainHealth and the School of Art and Technology.

The former Eugene McDermott Director of The Dallas Museum of Art, she is a national leader in the public engagement of art with diverse audiences. As Director of Art/Brain Innovations, Pitman expands her research and teaching to foster brain health with programs on observation, meditation, and compassion and her “Do Something New” practice. These initiatives connect neurological research with the experience and process of seeing, looking and observing.
